Claims Department
 
The claims department assists in the report of claims and issuance of loss runs.

Our office has no claim responsibility. All claims are adjusted by the carrier and or their appointed Third Party Administrator (TPA).

If WKF&C has issued the policy we will accept claim reports and forward them to the appropriate parties. Claim reports should be on the Acord First Notice of Loss form or similar document. Also include any other pertinent claim documentation that is available.

FIRST REPORT OF CLAIM
The fastest approach is via email. Our email address for claim reporting is ClaimsFirstReport@wkfc.com. We also can accept claims via fax. The dedicated fax number for claim reporting is 631 963 3252. If faxed please provide a cover page indicating that this is a first report.

We usually report the claim to the proper parties within the business hours of the day received. Late day reports (after 4PM EST) may go out the next business day. Adjusters usually call the insured within one business day.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The TPA or carrier will provide claim acknowledgement to the insured. We will also respond to email and phone requests on claim status if you have not received an acknowledgment.

STATUS
The adjuster will provide the insured with a claim number, his name and a phone number. The best source of claim status is to contact the adjuster. Our office does not have any involvement in the payment or adjustment of claims. The adjuster is the best source of information about the progress of the claim.

CLAIM SERVICE ISSUES
This office does not adjust claims. Any issues with the amount of payment or coverage interpretations must be handled through the adjuster. In the event claim service issues arise, (difficulty contacting an adjuster, failure to return calls etc.) our office will help facilitate a response and identify any specific adjusting needs (documentation, proof of loss etc.)

LOSS RUNS
There is a separate email address for loss runs. Please send all loss run requests to LossRuns@wkfc.com. We release loss information to the insured or their broker of record with WKF&C. If you are not the insured or the broker of record please provide documentation from the insured showing you represent them.

 
 
A claim is a traumatic event for the insured. Expeditious response to the claim settles much of that anxiety. We need your help so this can happen. Proper vetting of the First Notice of Claim will help you and your clients by speeding the process and dealing quickly with potential claim issues.

CLAIM REPORTING TIPS TO AVOID DELAY:
 
1. Read the policy
  a. Was it issued by WKF&C Agency?
  b. Is the named insured correct?
  c. Is the address of the loss a covered location on the policy?
  d. Is the First Notice of Loss Report complete and does it match the policy information?
2. Verify the policy is applicable to this Loss
3. Identify any possible coverage issues (pending endorsement, policy not yet issued, cancellation notices etc.)
4. Get the insured’s cell phone or alternative contact number (normal phone line may be dead or at the bottom of the building rumble).
